15/02/2005: "hats off (again) to Ken"

We met Ken Livingstone one morning in 1992 outside Kilburn tube station. He was an imposing figure in a long trench coat. He smiled amiably and said something, probably about supporting him in the upcoming general election. His recent attack on the Mail and Standard is generating a bit of hysteria, largely since nobody in power has dared say anything detrimental about one of the powerful right wing papers for ages. We can't remember any kind of challenge since the early 80s TUC meetings where leaders wore badges turning the nation's favourite red-top into "The Scum". And even better in this era of insincere apologies, Ken is refusing to say sorry.

How can you interpret what Ken said as racist? It wouldn't have been considered racist had he not been talking to a Jewish person, therefore it can't be racist because he is talking to a Jewish person.
